Six homicides in the California desert put the spotlight on illegal marijuana trafficking. Police think the bodies found in the Mojave Desert have to do with an illicit deal gone wrong.

The crime underscores that the state, the country's largest cannabis producer, was wrong to assume that illegal trafficking would be eradicated. “The violence is getting worse. The stakes are getting higher,” said Jerred Kiloh, a dispensary owner and president of the United Cannabis Business Association, a Los Angeles-based trade group.
