The 'Mayors in Contact 2.0' app makes the special communication possible, which reaches all people residing in a defined geographical area through fixed and mobile users. Enzo Cuomo, mayor of Portici, alarmed by the spike in incidents of fraud and robbery against the elderly recorded in his area and in other Vesuvian municipalities.
"I have always based my activity as mayor on close and daily contact with citizens," says Cuomo, who has been mayor since 2004, in his fourth legislature with a stint as senator of the Republic starting in 2013. "This contact is very welcome except perhaps for an old lady - Cuomo says pleasantly - who first thanked me for having contacted her personally but then, perhaps not being very familiar with the world of chats and mistaking the recorded message for a direct phone call, she scolded me for immediately hung up the phone without giving her time to ask me questions", he adds. The app is available in English, Spanish and Italian and can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
