Fulens Kayshama was convicted of planning the murder of 2,000 Tutsi members at a church in the north of the country. He was arrested in South Africa after more than 20 years on the run.

In 2020, Félicien Kabuga, one of the planners of the Rwandan genocide, was arrested. Kabuga was caught after living under a false identity in a suburb of the French capital Paris for nearly two decades. About one million people were murdered in the genocide.
