Mayor Michael Stolze announced his resignation there after he was met with massive hostility in the course of a debate about a refugee home. “The resignation of the mayor, who was personally guilty of nothing, followed the strong pressure of hostility, hatred, ignorance and a lack of solidarity,” wrote the SPD district chairwoman Doris Rauscher.
