Study, EU rules hit AI companies for deepfake porn - Society. Once the European directive on combating violence against women is passed, vendors and developers of artificial intelligence (AI) models could be held liable for creating sexually explicit deepfakes.

The latter is a growing phenomenon which, according to the think tank, concerns at least 96% of cases of deepfake, i.e. false but plausible images, videos and audio generated by AI. The directive, on which the EU institutions reached an agreement last month, will have to be definitively approved.
