In Emilia-Romagna the abstention was doubled in duration (8 hours) and extended to the public cleaning sector, after the massacre of the Suviana power plant in the Bolognese Apennines. A banner reading 'Enough is enough!' opens the CGIL and UIL Bologna procession which will soon set off on the day of the national general strike for workplace safety.

In the front row, with the secretary of the CGil BologNA Michele Bulgarelli, are the regional secretaries of the UIL Marcello Borghetti, Ivana Veronese, Luigi Giove (national organizational secretary of CGIL) and the regional councilor for work Vincenzo Colla.
