Sweden relaunches its civilian 'army' to help defend against possible foreign aggression. The Scandinavian country, a new member of NATO, promotes the training of reservists and compulsory military service with the looming Russian threat.

In 2022 they received 29,000 applications, 700% more than the previous year. The civilian army that makes up the National Guard is one of the many legs of the total defense system. The government gave the new impetus to comprehensive defense in the fall of 2012.
