local time on Thursday (2200 GMT Wednesday), the homeland's Defense Ministry also detected five warships operating around Taiwan, it said in a statement. The deployment is the second largest deployment since the start of the year, the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense announced Thursday March 21. The Chinese military has denied any involvement in the incident, saying only that it is monitoring the situation closely.
