China's Dongfeng carmaker is among several auto groups, not only Asian, that the government is talking to with a view to them setting up a plant in Italy. Business and Made in Italy Minister Adolfo Urso said after reports from Bloomberg.

Italy's Stellantis has said it may close its own plants if Chinese carmakers come to Italy. "Yes, there are talks with several carmakers, and not only Asianones," he said. "There is no reason why we shouldn't be open to all carmakers," he added. "We are open to everything," Urso told reporters. "It's not just about Chinese cars, it's also about Italian cars," a source said. The government has not commented on the reports, but said it is looking into the matter.
