Tarek William Saab is one of the most controversial and specific of the Chavista leadership that has exercised political hegemony in Venezuela for the last 25 years. A lawyer, with specializations in criminal law and human rights, Saab was appointed attorney general in 2017 by the defunct National Constituent Assembly.

Saab has had to face the battery of accusations made against the Venezuelan State for the excesses committed against opposition activists and the alleged crimes against humanity that occurred during the Government of Nicolás Maduro.
