Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra visited a temple in Bangkok on Thursday. First public appearance since he was released on parole in February following his conviction for corruption and abuse of power.

The 74-year-old former leader, who wore a neck brace, went to pray at the Bangkok City Pillar Shrine. He then had to fly to Chiang Mai (north), his hometown and political stronghold, to prayer at the graves of his loved ones. The former prime minister and billionaire, in power from 2001 until the 2006 coup, returned from exile in August 2023.
