Since 2013, a law in Russia has prohibited the “propaganda” of ‘non-traditional sexual relations’ aimed at minors. In July 2023, Russian deputies also voted for a law banning transgender people from surgical operations and hormonal therapies. The Russian authorities have also increasingly repressed sexual minorities.
