Of the 24 communes that make up Greater Buenos Aires, 19 already apply or have decided to apply this rate. Other municipalities chose to receive a fixed amount and not a percentage.

The money that the municipalities pocket thanks to this tax is not at all negligible. The fuel tax does not discriminate. Large and small municipalities charge it. Some have been doing it for years, such as Avellaneda, Vicente López, La Matanza, Moreno, Merlo or San Fernando. Others, however, will do so in the coming months, like Quilmes, Lanús, Almirante Brown Lomas de Zamora. There are always alternatives that their administrations have to raise more, although they always have the spittoon at hand. It is a tax that is very easy to collect since it is obtained by charging a surcharge for each liter of gasoline or cubic meter of CNG that is loaded at any of the service stations located in each game. The rate is 1.55% of the price per liter of 2 diesel oil and other liquid fuels; 239% on CNG; and 122% on the rest of the fuels.
