A 1:1 replica of the statue of Constantine was unveiled in Rome this week. The 13-metre seated statue was painstakingly reconstructed by the Factum Foundation.

It was made from the 10 known fragments of the original sculpture. The head and most of the other fragments were discovered in 1486, in the ruins of a building not far from the Colosseum. They were moved to what would eventually become the Capitoline collection, and nine of those ancient fragments are permanently displayed in museums.
