A 12-year-old boy killed a classmate and injured two others in a school shooting in Finland. The Nordic country is the seventh in the world, and the first in the EU, with the most firearms in relation to its population.

Despite the large number of weapons, mass shootings are very unusual in Finland, where fewer than a dozen have taken place in the last century. In Finland there are more than 1.6 million firearms, and almost half a million people have licenses to own them.
