The Azteca Stadium will host the opening match of the 2026 World Cup. FIFA allows the venue where Pelé and Maradona were crowned to host the first World Cup match.

Mexico will have 13 group stage matches and another three in the direct elimination rounds. The final will be at the New York Stadium in New Jersey with 82,500 seats to be played on July 19. In total there will be 104 matches with 48 countries. The World Cup format will be unprecedented due to the number of participating countries.
