The death toll from the fires in the Valparaíso region of Chile has risen to 46. And the number is expected to increase.

The stories of the survivors are devastating: “I have fought a lifetime to be left with nothing,” said someone who lost his house and all of his animals. The Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá, reported that there were almost 8,000 hectares affected in total in the area. The various fires emerged simultaneously in four outbreaks in the Peñuelas Lake area on Friday.
