The EU climate service reports alarming figures: global warming exceeded 1.5 degrees for a full year for the first time. January 2024 was also the warmest in the world since records began.

January 2025 was the coldest on record, with an average temperature of 13.4 degrees Celsius. The average was 0.7 degrees above the average from 1991 to 2020 and 0.12 degrees Celsius above the value of the hottest January to date in 2020.
