Wopke Hoekstra is the European Commissioner for Climate Action. The Christian Democrat politician has been in his post since last October.

He says that Brussels maintains its ambition in the environmental agenda. But he says that it must be combined with a “just transition” and “competitiveness” to achieve the goal of climate neutrality in 2050. The Commission's political recommendation to Member States is that they must reduce (collectively) their greenhouse emissions by 90% by 2040.
