The family of the most prominent Palestinian prisoner denounces torture in Israeli prisons. Marwan Barghouti, whom Hamas includes in the negotiations for the ceasefire in Gaza and the exchange of hostages, has been imprisoned by Israel since 2002.

For many Palestinians, a hero capable of bringing together the different factions, secular or religious, of a people shaken by war and the resignation of a government in crisis. “He has had a great influence on me, the teacher, the doctor, he welcomed me in a prison with a smile,” says Abdelqader Badawi, 29.
