The first step towards lung cancer observed in a cell. Observed the first step in the process that transforms a healthy cell into a cell of the most common form of lung cancer, lung adenocarcinoma.

Published in the journal Nature and led by the Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas, the result promises to be very useful for early diagnosis. An atlas has been drawn up which contains around 250,000 different types of lung cells and which could lead to new strategies for intercepting the disease in its initial stages.
