The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella met with the representatives of the Academies of the G7 countries in Rome. The meeting was attended by representatives from the French Academie des Sciences, the British Royal Society and British Academy, the German Leopoldina, the National Academy of Sciences of the United States, the Royal Society of Canada and the Science Council of Japan.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Nobel Prize winner Giorgio Parisi observed that “the challenges facing humanity can only be overcome and won based on scientific analyses” The G7 Academies come together to support the governments of the major industrialized countries in the difficult choices that await them to resolve current and future crises, said the vice-president of the Accademia dei Lincei Roberto Antonelli. The only path to progress remains that of cooperation in respect of the inviolable rights of man and of nations, said Antoneelli. The G8 and the G9 will meet in Rome on April 11th and 12th.
