Tomás Etcheverry was forced to withdraw from his Argentina Open quarterfinal match due to injury. The player from La Plata suffered a tear in the semimembranosus muscle and would be away from the courts for at least five weeks.

He will miss the rest of the South American tournaments on slow courts - the ATP 250 in Santiago (he made the final last year) and 500 in Rio de Janeiro. If these recovery deadlines are met, he will return for the start of the clay tour that culminates in Roland Garros in April.
