The lecturer, Prof. Nadira Shalhoub-Kivorkian, published a petition online that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, and said she is considering leaving her job because of it.
In response, the president of the university called on her to resign. The Minister of Education threatened to file a complaint against her: "The situation of hatred against Israel within higher education is intolerable" The announcement states that for the time being it has been decided to suspend the lecturer. "The university rejects with disgust all of her distorted statements," she said.
