The IMF lowers the economic growth forecast for Latin America in 2024 to 1.9%. The two largest economies in the region, Mexico and Brazil, will grow more than expected.

Argentina is estimated to have contracted 1.1% in 2023 and 2.8% this year. The Fund also assures that the world is on the path to disinflation, but maintains perspectives of growth. The report has a slightly more optimistic tone than those that have been published since 2020, the year in which the covid-19 pandemic slowed economic activity.
