The Jesuit Way follows the itinerary that the Society of Jesus traveled to establish themselves in South America. Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay, which started the initiative a couple of years ago, plus Chile, has just joined.

Along its Camino there are 19 Unesco world heritage sites and 55 historical sites in 21 provinces, some quite unknown to tourists. The Iguazú National Park (“Big Water” in Guaraní), shared between Brazil (State of Paraná) and Argentina (province of Misiones), also very close to the border with Paraguay. The fusion of the musical background of the Jesuits with elements of native culture resulted in a unique baroque. In the missions of Chiquitos and Moxos (Bolivia) more than 10,000 scores of sacred music written between the 17th and 18th centuries have been discovered, to be performed by violins, harps and choirs.
