The Madrid City Council will carry out a georadar study to see if there is a mass grave on the land of the canton of Montecarmelo. This exploration has no relationship with what the Central Government was preparing through the General Directorate of Democratic Memory, according to the City Council.

The City Council has gone ahead with the project coming from the Government on behalf of a request from the Association of Friends of the International Brigades. The suspicion of the existence of the mass grave has crossed over into the project that is opposed by the neighbors, who organized in 2023.
