Finsing boys' club has not had a maypole stolen since 1972. They put one up every five years, including this year.

Clubs from the area try to steal the 33 meter long tree several times a week. The maypole ultimately has to leave the town limits in order for it to be considered stolen. There's always a bit of luck involved, but there's also a lot of passion, says Seppi Weber, chairman of the Finsing Boys' Club.. Thieves have no chance here - and have been for over half a century. Chairman Bene Stiegler: We have a motion detector for the headlights at the back of the garbage. A drone has even flown over our parlor to see how many people were there to guard the maypole. There are also thieves who don't think for themselves - we can see on Snapchat that they are still online at three in the morning. The fact that you can call people on your cell phone when you're locked up - that didn't exist before - also helps.
