The music we like is felt in the heart and stomach. The one that generates anxiety and confusion is more often associated with the head.

These findings demonstrate that music could be used in a targeted manner to improve mental well-being and reduce stress. The strongest abdominal sensations were recorded when the song progressed in a predictable and unsurprising way, causing the melodies to be associated with feelings of calm, relief, satisfaction and nostalgia. The heart, however, was more involved when the piece of music ended in a surprising way: in these cases the sensations produced were linked to stronger feelings of pleasure.
