For 4 months the "Falafel Amar" stand remained closed due to the war. Shimon Amar decided to return from "Tel Aviv exile" to the northern city, cleaned the business, prepared the mixture and sold the first portion of falafel at 10:00.
"I felt like I was freaking out and decided that this was it, I hope we will return to a normal life," said Amar. The booth was opened by Eliyahu Amar, Shimon's father, in the 1950s. During the years when the Labor Party was in power, the party also had an active branch in Kiryat Shmona.
