The Netherlands is moving towards a mixed government of politicians and technocrats. A break with the tradition of the last government of this type dates back to 1918.
The four parties have been trying to govern together since the end of 2023. They are the PVV of the far-right leader Geert Wilders, the center-right VVD of Mark Rutte, and the left-wing NRC of Caroline van der Plas. The parties are trying to form a government of technocrats and politicians.
