At least 10 cows were killed after the collision with this night train, which occurred on the night of Tuesday 6 to Wednesday 7 June. Nearly 400 people - fortunately safe and sound - remained stranded for a good part of the night nearly 700 km from their scheduled arrival point in Nice.
The train was stopped in the middle of nowhere, towards Saint-Martin-sur-Armançon, in the Yonne department, and traffic interrupted until 4:45 am. It was only around 6am that the unfortunate travelers were able to be transferred to another train,. which drove them back... in Paris.
