The number of HIV infections has increased in Bavaria – the highest figure in the country. There were almost 3,300 HIV diagnoses nationwide in 2023.
“Many people don’t even know that they are infected and can infect others,” Health Minister Judith Gerlach (CSU) told the newspaper. More than 15,000 participants are expected at the 25th World AIDS Conference from July 22nd to 26th, 2024. In Eastern Europe, infections are rising again; in Africa they remain high.
