The oldest extinct galaxy discovered, it does not generate new stars - Space and Astronomy. The James Webb Space Telescope observed its faint light (ANSA) The discovery could change our knowledge of the primordial universe.

The galaxy generated stars for a period of between 30 and 90 million years, but between 10 and 20 million years before the moment in which it was now observed, star formation suddenly stopped. Various factors can cause the 'death' of galaxies, the most probable is the presence of a large black hole which attracts a large part of the interstellar gas to itself, eliminating the raw material necessary to give birth to new stars.
