Pope Francis says Ukraine needs to show courage and negotiate an end to the war with Russia. Francis: "When you see that you are defeated, you should have the courage to negotiate" He says he is ready to mediate between Russia and Ukraine, which is not ready to give up parts of its sovereign territory.
The Pope has been accused more than once by Kiev of taking too pro-Russian a position in relation to the conflict. The interview is scheduled to be broadcast on March 20 as part of a new cultural program.
