[HIGHLIGHTS] The residents of Palomares: "We are looking forward to taking the contaminated land"

Residents of Palomares, in Almeria, celebrate the intentions of the Government of Spain and the United States. Four unexploded plutonium bombs fell on January 17, 1966 and moved around 6,000 meters of contaminated sand to the Nevada desert.

It's been 57 years now, but the collision of a B-52 bomber and a KC-135 tanker plane in mid-flight continues to mark the almost 15,000 residents of Cuevas del Almanzora. Many neighbors decline to talk about the event, fed up with the issue or because they believe it may harm tourist season.
