The robot is called Emo and has learned to predict a person's smile approximately 840 milliseconds in advance. At the moment it only has a head, with a human-like face covered in silicone and capable of assuming a large number of expressions.

High-resolution cameras in the pupil of each eye allow the robot to establish visual contact, essential for non-verbal communication. An AI system allows it to analyze changes in human flight to anticipate them and another AI system generates the motor commands relating to the different facial expressions.
