The Senate votes for the inclusion of abortion in the constitution. 267 senators voted for and 50 against.

The vote was the most perilous stage of the constitutional revision promised by the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron. The wording retained by the government is very close to a version adopted in the Senate in February 2023 with the support of around thirty LR-centrist voices. To be definitively adopted, the reform had to be validated by three-fifths of Parliament meeting at a Congress in Versailles.
