The State was condemned for the hours lost by students at the Versailles academy due to the failure to replace teachers, the Cergy-Pontoise administrative court announced on Wednesday. This procedure is part of the national collective operation #OnVeutDesProfs, which in 2022 initiated proceedings against the State in various places in the country.

According to the collective, this action involves more than 340 requests in 20 academies, 247 of which are currently in progress. In two judgments dated April 3 published on its website, the court ordered the State to pay 150 euros to the families for the damage suffered. “Too bad, the parents' prejudice is not recognized, while the non-replacement of teachers causes real stress for families,” laments the collective’s lawyer Joyce Pitcher. The Court of Auditors estimated in a 2021 report that in secondary education, nearly 10% of lesson had been “lost” due to difficulties in replacing short-term absences.
