President Yitzhak Herzog has granted 217 amnesties in the form of deletion or expiration of the criminal record to IDF soldiers and national service employees. In 2023, a total of 3,552 applications were received to the Pardons Department in the Legal Bureau at the President's House, of which 1,568 new pardon applications were opened.
74% of the positive decisions were to delete and expire the criminal. record, 13% were decisions to reduce fines and 7% were to reduce actual prison sentences or community service.
