The Supreme Court grants protection to Salinas Pliego to avoid paying 645 million pesos in taxes. With three votes in favor and two against, the highest court determined that the Mexican magnate did not improperly apply deductions.

“This ruling confirms the arbitrariness and unconstitutionality with which the Tax Administration Service (SAT) has systematically conducted itself against our companies. We are convinced that this is the first of many protections in our favor,” Grupo Salinas mentioned in a statement.
