Carlos Lehder was a key member of the Medellín cartel and partner of Pablo Escobar. He was sentenced to life in prison in the late 1980s for running a criminal enterprise.

Lehder has lived in Berlin since 2020, where he ended up after serving 33 years in prison. He has written a book about his life and death, which is now going on sale in Spain. He describes himself as an armed, rational, good-hearted pacifist who shows mercy to his enemies. He is described as someone impulsive and violent who was feared by the rest of the drug traffickers in Medellin, but has no choice but to confront these areas of his life in his new book, The Team of A. The book is published by the Debate publishing house, a non-fiction imprint of Penguin Random House, and which is just now going onto sale in the UK and the U.S. It is available to pre-order now for £16.99 ($24.99)
