The UN announces the creation of an independent committee to assess the “neutrality” of UNRWA, with Catherine Colonna at its head. The objective of the evaluation group appointed Monday is to “determine whether the Agency is doing everything in its power to ensure its neutrality and respond to accusations of serious abuses where appropriate” He will have to submit an interim report to Antonio Guterres by the end of March and then a final report which will notably, if necessary, make recommendations to ‘improve and strengthen’ the mechanisms in place.
