In the fourth quarter, the number of unemployed as defined by the International Labor Office (ILO) increased by 29,000 compared to the previous quarter, to 2.3 million people. The unemployment rate remained stable in theFourth quarter of 2023, at 7.5% of the active population in France (excluding Mayotte), according to figures published Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.

The previous quarter's rate had been revised upwards by 0.1 percentage points.
