Diego Schwartzman was number 8 in the world in 2020, the year in which he reached the final of the Rome Masters 1000 and the semi-finals of Roland Garros. He has not won a main draw match since the 17th October, when he defeated Francisco Cerúndolo in Tokyo.
Schwartzman had a 13-25 record in 2023, his first season with a negative balance since 2015. "I can fight every game, but it's not enough, no one is better just for laying eggs," he said.
