Federico García Lorca's body was never found in Spain. One theory says that he was brought from Europe and buried in the city of Salto, in Uruguay.

The Granada poet was shot dead by the Francoist side on the road between the towns of Viznar and Alfacar, possibly in the early morning of August 18, 1936. In December 1953, what Rocca describes as an "austere and accusatory" wall was inaugurated, which has the last verses of 'The crime was in Granada' engraved.
