ICE is disappointed with the Lancaster City Council's decision, but will continue to enforce immigration law in Lancaster and throughout the state. But the debate didn't stop city leaders from taking steps they say ensure Lancaster remains a city where immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees can feel comfortable seeking public services and reporting crimes committed against them. The all-Democratic Lancaster Council unanimously passed an ordinance last month that prevents local police from asking about a person's immigration status.
