Thousands of people protest in several cities in Senegal against the postponement of the elections. The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, assures that the delay “threatens to stain the long democratic tradition” of the country.

New protests are called for next week, joined by the League of Imams and Preachers of Senegal and one of the most powerful high school teachers unions. The West African Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has called for the date to be maintained.
