The 16-year-olds in Bavaria are allowed to vote for the first time in the European elections on June 9th. They were able to ask the politicians questions during a panel discussion at the Neufahrner OMG.
Topics such as the Ukraine war, nuclear energy, the burner ban and possible EU accession countries came to the podium through questions. The students consider a TikTok ban, which according to Niebler has already been discussed, to be critical and pointless. The politicians played out the “horror scenario” that would occur if Germany left the EU and also listed the advantages of the EU: no border controls, a common currency, no more exorbitant prices for mobile data abroad, Erasmus programs and so on much more. “No EU would mean the end of prosperity for us.
