In the United States, the first experimental intervention was carried out in which cells from a healthy liver were transferred to a lymph node in the abdomen of a person with liver failure. The aim is to make these cells multiply to obtain a mini-liver, which can replace at least in part the patient's diseased organ.

The person who received the treatment, carried out on March 25, is recovering well from the operation and has been discharged from the clinic, but continues to be carefully monitored for any signs of rejection or infection.
